Over the years, we have strengthened our relationship with various media partners, offered trainings to journalists and also supported some form or reporting.
Our Soundcloud and Youtube Channel has some of the content we have from various media outlets and some are also in-house contents. As the web continues to expand in terms of multimedia dimension for reporting, we will continue to adapt. One of our short-term plans is to begin to produce in-house short videos that can be used for social and behaviour change communication targeted at young persons.

She is joined by one of our volunteer partners, Imam Salaudeen Busairi and others to explore themes on culture and religious issues as it concerns FGM. Ending FGM: A Tale of Three Ekiti Kings
Law alone may not be enough to cause abolishment of the practice! A grantee of Onelife Initiative explains in a piece published in the Guardian Newspaper. Sola Abe, the grantee was supported to conduct interviews for some traditional leaders in Ekiti State. Her finding reflects how perception differs in various communities and the need for more work to be done to save women and girls from Female Genital Mutilation in Ekiti State.
Alaroye and Our EndFGM Poster Art Competition
One of Nigeria’s oldest and indigenous newspapers, Alaroye, reports our EndFGM Poster Art Competition Award Ceremony in Oyo state. The competition was designed to trigger conversations on Female Genital Mutilation amongst secondary school students and also use arts as a means of expressing the ills of the harmful traditional practice.

Rachael Arowolo of Onelife Initiative joins MD and Olomi, both of Premier FM on a Family Radio Drama. The programme anchored by the two presenters mirrored myths, culture and family conflict in taking decisions concerning harmful traditional practices.
Frontpage of the Vanguard Newspaper captures our training of Radio Journalists
Our training of radio journalists to further ensure the amplification of the End FGM was reported by the Vanguard Newspaper and also featured on the front page of the paper. Predictably newspaper reviews in the country that morning mentioned the headline further helping to push the message to the table of policy makers. New Frontiers TV features Onelife on Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM
On the International Day of Zero Tolerance, Onelife Initiative for Human Development had Chidinma Okoli, one of its intern feature on the New Frontiers TV for an hour as part of activities to commemorate the day. We also coordinated with trained journalists from across the country sponsoring programmes on the station and also airing jingles in various languages.

Child Rights Policy Implementation Advocacy on Authority Newspaper
As part of our advocacy to ensure implementation of the Child Rights Act in Oyo State through sponsorship by YouthHub Africa and Malala Fund, we had Honorable Segun Ajanaku, the House Committee chairman on Education in Oyo state of the Oyo state House of Assembly meet with winners of our writing competition. He used the opportunity to admonish parents and children in the state to embrace education. He also expressed his delight in the students who were at the House of Assembly to watch house proceeding. The report was published on Scroll weekly Newspaper and Authority Newspaper.
Press Conference on the EndFGM Poster Art Competition
Journalists from 10 media houses covered the press conference section of the EndFGM Poster Art Competition in Oyo State. Our partners from Osun and Ekiti states were also in attention.
The project saw us receiving 2,217 entries from girls in secondary schools across the 5 states with the highest prevalence of Female Genital Mutilation in Nigeria.16 million Nigerians were reached on this project especially through the use of radio for further spread the word on preventing the future generation of mothers and fathers from subscribing to FGM.
The project was reported in several newspapers across the country. The Nation Newspaper, Daily Times, Authority Newspaper and others radio stations across the state also had it embedded in their news hour.

Our work on the Enterprise desk through the 2SCALE project gets a mention on thecable.ng Our involvement includes supporting value chain actors on the maize and vegetable value chain in locations in Oyo and some part of Osun state, Nigeria.
