This Medium Term Plan of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was designed to tackle the huge decline in the country’s economy since her shift from agriculture sector to crude oil and gas sector in the late 1960s. The plan’s objective includes restoring growth, investing in citizens and building a globally competitive economy.

This policy was put together by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development. It sets out to bridge the gaps identified in the agricultural sector of Nigeria which includes inability to meet domestic food requirement and inability to export at quality levels required for market success. The ministry intends working closely with states and other Ministries, Departments and Agencies in achieving these goals.
