Apply: Training of 20 Journalists in Oyo and Akwa Ibom

Onelife Initiative is a non-governmental, not-for-profit making organisation with offices in Ibadan, Ikole and Uyo, Nigeria.

We are currently supporting local efforts to enhance policies around improving the quality of Girls Education. We are targeting Oyo State and Akwa Ibom State. We would be selecting and training 20 journalists in the 2 states. They will be drawn from the broadcast, print and online field. Trained journalists will also be supported to generate and produce stories on the State of Girl Child Education in their state. Our preference is for journalists in the early stage of their careers who are interested in balanced investigative reporting.

They will be required to attend a 2-day training in one of either locations — Akwa Ibom (Thursday, 12th and Friday, 13th May, 2022) or Oyo State (Thursday, 19th and Friday, 20th May, 2022). Our preference is for journalists that are resident in either Oyo State or in Akwa Ibom State. It is a non-residential training for state resident journalists. Consideration will also be given to few outside the states. Thereafter, the trained journalists will be required to pitch their stories and also work on these field stories. The stories should be published with the media house that they currently work with.
