We joined the #HortiNigeria Learning Event, possib

We joined the #HortiNigeria Learning Event, possibly the biggest horticulture learning event in Nigeria to exchange insights and knowledge while also fostering collaborations within the horticulture sector.

The success stories were inspiring with one of our Business Champions already pushing papers and research around tomatoes and onions powder production. It was also a clear avenue to meet with critical actors in the sector and also promote innovations while keeping our sights on youth and gender engagement. The growing concerns around labour availability was also critically discussed with access to finance as well being a primary issue of discussion.

@ifdcglobal continues to push the boundaries in Nigeria and we are proud and primed to be associated with them. Let’s not forget to tell you that the red carpet also allows our Entrepreneurial Farmers to show their Steeze!

HortiNigeria aims to help farmers nail farming and embrace sustainable agriculture, by testing and expanding various innovations needed in different areas.

We headed to CKB, one of our Hubs at Ejioku in Lagelu LGA to show our farmers how we use hybrid tomato seeds (Platinum 701 F1) from @eastwestseed_nigeria and better nurseries using seed trays and potting Soil to achieve great results.

Our farmers provide the demonstration plots that we use to test these innovations so that they can see first hand and also monitor the farm on their own. They see how potting soil improves plant health and seed trays boost accountability and make plants easier to manage and watch. This is important for them to see the difference between hybrid seed and the local seeds which they are used to.

We can help farmers improve their yield while making food available and affordable to consumers.

The last virtual sessions of our SRHR classes for 100 female artisans and in-school adolescent girls and women will be happening today by 6.00pm with support from @ipasnigeriahealthfoundation .

Yesterday's was an eye opener for many participants following the feedback we are having. New learnings about #Contraceptives, #Abstinence and menstrual health. Today, the session will focus on #STIs, Options for Management of Unplanned Pregnancies and also on Gender Based Violence with spotlight on #FGM.

We are looking forward to these, especially the Q and A session.

Together with representation from the Education Champions Network, we were on @splashfm1055 We had Peter Ogah from @youthhubafrica and Moyin Isola from Onelife Initiative. The conversation centred around the need for a Gender Responsive Education Sector Plan in Oyo State, highlighting the importance of creating inclusive education systems that address the unique needs of all.

They explored the importance of promoting gender equality in education and discussed roadblocks and actionable steps to ensure that the education sector is responsive in Oyo state. Oyo's status of having more out-of-school boys also needs to be addressed. It was an enlightening discussion with valuable insights and a call to action for all stakeholders in the education sector.

Our Programmes Officer shared about our project on the Movement for Good to EndFGM in Oyo State. With support from UNICEF Nigeria, we’ve tooled survivors to be strong advocates and provided support systems towards ending Female Genital Mutilation. We’ve also engaged with women, community based organisations, adolescent girls, men, boys, religious leaders, and influencers to raise awareness about the need to end FGM in Nigeria.

Pulling from our experience working around this tough Reproductive Rights issues has helped us in constantly tweaking our strategies. Lend your voice and let’s reduce the percentage of girls and women mutilated daily in our communities. The 2030 target is a few years away. Our girls and women have to win. We all have to win.
