Call for Strategic Planning Consultant
Onelife Initiative for Human Development is a youth-serving, non-partisan, non-profit based in Ibadan, Nigeria with field offices in Akwa Ibom State and Ekiti State. Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2016, we work to improve the well-being of young people through the provision of safe spaces, skills, and vocational training including information to enable them to make informed decisions. We work around three core thematic areas — Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Governance and Policies (in Education, Gender Mainstreaming, Elections etc), Enterprise Development and Employability (including Agribusiness). All aimed at enabling young people improve their socio-economic status.
As a youth-biased organisation, we are committed to creating meaningful, sustainable change and believe a well-crafted strategic plan will set us up for the next chapter of impactful work (2025 to 2030).
Why We Need You
We’re seeking a strategic planning consultant who will help us look deeply into our vision, mission, core values and evaluate where we are now, and chart a course for our future. We’re ready to examine our strengths, address our challenges, and set concrete, ambitious goals for the next 5 years. We want someone who understands the complexity of working with Nigerian youth and the developmental space here in Nigeria especially our thematic areas being a multi-themed youth-serving organisation. The average age of our team members is 26 years.
Scope of Work
Conduct a comprehensive situational analysis to assess our current programs, strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities;
Facilitate discussions with our board, staff, volunteers and partners to ensure their voices shape our future;
Draft a roadmap with clear goals, key performance indicators, and timelines that we can rally around;
Offer practical advice on resource mobilisation, partnerships, and program growth;
Ensure our strategic plan is not just visionary but grounded in our values and mission.
Key Deliverables
Situational Analysis Report: A concise, insightful analysis that lays out where we are today, based on internal data and stakeholder feedback.
Stakeholder Insights Summary: A document summarising the thoughts and recommendations of board members, staff, volunteers, and partners.
Draft Strategic Plan: A preliminary plan in Google Doc. that we can review and discuss internally, featuring proposed goals, strategies, and metrics.
Final Strategic Plan Document: The polished, comprehensive plan in Google Docs. and editable formats, ready for implementation.
Implementation Roadmap: A practical roadmap to help us achieve our goals, with short, medium, and long-term actions, responsible parties, and timelines.
Presentation of Strategic Plan: A session with our board and core stakeholders, where you’ll walk us through the strategy, key priorities, and next steps.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with a proven track record in strategic planning, preferably within the non-profit sector and with a broad scope and reach within the sector. You should have strong analytical and facilitation skills, open to innovations and the restlessness of our dominantly youthful workforce, have experience in Nigeria’s development space especially as it relates to our work with young people in our multi-themed environment, and have the ability to create a plan that’s as practical as it is inspiring following from our current strategic plan (2020 to 2025).
