The provision of sexual and reproductive health an

The provision of sexual and reproductive health and rights information to young people needs to be improved and expanded using different methods—including reproductive health education to young people in schools and out of school. Young people face a lot of challenges regarding their health and don't know who to turn to. Parents, guardians and teachers in schools are still silent about sexual reproductive health education for their wards.
Our School Connect Project provides young people with 4 weeks of appropriate comprehensive sexuality health information with room for asking questions using a method that allows young people ask any questions anonymously.

Our mood this morning after internally reflecting

Our mood this morning after internally reflecting and adapting the efforts of our agribusiness team of coaches and agronomists in the last one year. We are fully psyched and ready to engage on the Partnership Project after the 3 day retreat with the team while putting Smallholder Farmers at the centre. It comes at great cost and effort. There is so much to reflect on before we head to the field for the brain, muscle and smart work! 🙃

It’s International Youth Day and the theme this

It’s International Youth Day and the theme this year is Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”. Our effort as an organisation to make sure that youths are linked and introduced to the food systems in Nigeria continues.

The food production sector in Nigeria is in dire need of young people who can deploy new innovations for on-farm and off-farm opportunities. We have been part of implementation of the OYE (Opportunities in Youth Employment) training for youths in Nigeria. Through these activities, youths are able learning off-farm skills including Business Management, Leadership and Basic life competence therefore engaging more effectively in the workplace or private business through enhanced confidence and appropriate conduct in general.

It is designed to accommodate new learnings around the Cassava Value Chain where Smallholder Farmers are currently being sensitised, mobilised and supported to meet a guaranteed daily cassava market of about 240 tonnes. The food systems in Nigeria needs a lot of intervention, innovation and participation. Governments and non-state actors need to put policies in place to guarantee youths a seat at the table while building sustainable development for all.

The Oyo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry began at 9

The Oyo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry began at 9:50am, on Wednesday 7th July 2021. For today, there is only one petition for further hearing on the cause list😯 And that is the petition of Mr. Alamu Toheeb VS Nigerian Police Eleyele Police Station. The petitioner was absent though, but was represented by his counsel.

From the previous adjournment date the Panel had requested the presence of one Inspector involved with this case to appear today, but the OC legal of Police informs the Panel that the Inspector, one Femi Oluwadamilare, is currently bedridden and so cannot be present today.
As both parties had already closed their cases on the previous adjournment date, the Panel decided to close the petition by adjourning it Sine-die.

At this point, the Oyo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry, exited for the day at 10:01am, just 11 minutes after resumption🙁

The story of Alfa Hamzat Ibrahim was a sad one. The petitioner, Alfa Hamzat Ibrahim, had filed a petition against the Oyo State Correctional Service Agodi Ibadan, of which they had been served severally but failed to reply or appear before the Panel. Today, the Panel decides to proceed with the petitioner's petition without the respondent party.

Alfa Hamzat Ibrahim states that he was formerly a motorcyclist, but his job had been hindered after he sustained severe injuries from being attacked by a warden of the Correctional Service. Hamzat tells the Panel that his motorcycle was first seized for no reason by the warden after he had dropped off a passenger there. He had begged the warden through a soldier who was present, but the warden refused and instead shot him with tear gas😥

Hamzat prays for a compensation of 10 million naira as he is still undergoing treatment and preparing for a surgery. He adds that since the incident, he has spent about a million naira on treatments. His petition was adjourned Sine-die by the Panel. The Panel also comforted Hamzat's wife who was present👏

The Panel exited for the day at 12:45pm.

For the new month of July, on Tuesday 6th 2021, the Oyo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry sits at 9:53am. With only three petitions on the cause list for today, it seems this Panel sitting is drawing to an end😯

The petitions of Mr. Olayinwola Oyedokun and Alfa Hamzat Ibrahim were quite interesting for today, out of the three petitions.

It was stated that Mr. Olayinwola was arrested instead of his son on the 23rd July 2020, who had allegedly stolen maize, destroyed the maize farm and solar power system of his Uncle, Mr. Sola Oyedokun. After Mr. Sola Oyedokun reported this crime to the police, the police officers visited the suspects home, but were instead attacked by Mr. Olayinwola Oyedokun, who attacked with a cutlass that resulted in the officers sustaining injuries. This was the reason Mr. Olayinwola Oyedokun was arrested on that day.
The Police officers were asked if Mr. Olayinwola Oyedokun, who is obviously an elderly person, could overpower the 4 Police officers that visited his home, and they said "Yes"😂 The officers also denied collecting bail fee from Mr. Olayinwola Oyedokun, standing on the ground that bail is free🙄 This petition was adjourned Sine-die by the Panel.

The fourth petition is that of Mr Sesan Opadotun Vs Commissioner of Police Oyo State. The petitioner is represented by Olorode Oluwaseun and Olunike Opadotun. This petition is for the respondent to open their defence. The respondent informs the Panel that they wish to rest their case with the evidences that were just tendered by the petitioner's counsel. This petition is now adjourned Sine-die by the Panel.

The fifth petition is that of Mrs Oseni Fatiat Adeola VS Inspector Clement Olarenwaju & 2 others. The petitioner is present. Under the case of Oseni Oluwatoyin, this petitioner testified as a witness of that case & stated that she was brutalized. This was the reason the Panel urged her to file her own separate petition on police brutality. The petitioner's counsel is yet to serve the respondent of this case and so the Panel decides to adjourn this petition. This petition is adjourned for definite hearing, to the 13th of July 2021, for the petitioner to serve the respondents properly and to enable the secretariat send servings to the respondents.

The last petition for the day is that of Mr. Baaki Gbadebo VS Oyo State Security Network Amotekun. The petitioner is present. The respondent informs the Panel that they wish to rest their case on the reasons that the petitioner was unable to present a prima facie case, and not naming a specific Amotekun Officer that allegedly brutalized him. The respondent also adds that the petitioner did not report his incident to the Station, the evidence adduced before the Panel contradicts his petition, & ends with saying the petitioner's case lacks merit & so suggests that the case be dismissed. The Panel thanks the respondent for not wasting their time😂 This case is adjourned Sine-die by the Panel.

The last day of the month, Wednesday 30th June 2021, the Oyo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry resumes at 9:41am.

The first petition is that of Mr. Salami Safaradeen VS the Nigerian Police Saki Area Command. The petitioner is present. This petition is for the respondent to give a report on the petitioner's Motorcycle. The OC legal of Police, Mr. Ojieh, informs the Panel that they worked together with the petitioner and his counsel on retrieving this motorcycle, and now, the motorcycle has been released to the petitioner as at yesterday. The Panel applauds the OC legal of Police and the petitioner's counsel on their efforts so far to this case. This petition is hence adjourned Sine-die by the Panel.

The second petition is that of the family of Late Waheed Olarenwaju VS the D.P.O Mokola Police Station. The petitioner is present. This petition is for the motorcyclist, D.P.O and Iya Ife to appear before the Panel as requested by the Panel. The respondent informs the Panel that none of the requested persons are present today because the D.P.O is one of those awarded a "Peace keeping mission", and so is not currently in the country🙄 The respondent adds that the phone number of Iya Ife was not going through. The Panel then urged the respondent to make more efforts by reaching out to her sister and landlord. The Panel decides to adjourn this petition just for a short date, so the respondent can locate the D.P.O, Iya Ife and the motorcyclist. The petition is adjourned to the 6th of July 2021.

The third petition is that of Pastor Ajayi Opeyemi Isaac VS Nigerian Police Akanran Police Station. The petitioner is present. The petitioner informs the Panel on the reason for his counsel's absence, that he had lost his mother today😥 The Panel respecting the counsel's religion's rite of 8 days of prayers, they decide to adjourn this petition to the 13th of July 2021, and for the defence to open their defence.

The seventh petitioner is Mr Adegbite Nasiru VS the Nigerian Police Eleyele Ibadan. The petitioner is present. This petition is for the respondent to open their defence. The respondent decides to rest their case for this petition because this case presently in the Magistrate Court-7 and so any decision taken here would not affect the case over there. This petition is now adjourned Sine-die by the Panel.

The eighth petitioner is Comrade Segun Ogundepo VS Nigerian Police Agugu Division. The petitioner is present. This petition is for the respondent to open their defence. The respondent presents three witnesses, all testifying in the local dialect. The first witness is Esther Oluroro, an inspector. The witness states that on 21 January 2019, she was at her station in Agugu when one Alh. Abdulraheem Mikai came to report at 6pm that the petitioner accused him of speaking against Christianity. The witness adds that the D.P.O ordered that she and one Inspector Adebayo visit the petitioner along with Alhaji Abdulrraheem Mikain, where they interviewed the complainants neighbor, one Josiah Ajayi. The witness adds that the petitioner asked to be detained and refused bail, saying that he preferred the matter to be addressed in a Court the next day, but the Court did not sit. The witness states that she never hit the petitioner.
The second witness is Alhaji Abdulrraheem Mikain, the complainant. The witness states that the petitioner is troublesome in the neighborhood and is always writing petitions against them. The witness adds that they attitude of the petitioner sometimes seems like it is because they are Muslims and the petitioner is a Christian, that he is always arguing with them.
The third witness is Mr. Josiah Bolatito Ajayi. The witness affirms that he knows the petitioner as they are co landlords along with witness Alhaji Abdulrraheem. The witness states that he was sent by the zonal chairmen to provide a report on the outcome of the meeting held in their community, and on his way to give the report, he passed the petitioner's house.

The fourth petition is that of Alhaji Ganiyu Ajiboye VS Oyo State Police Command. The petitioner and his counsel are both present. This petition is for the respondent to open their defence. The respondent states that they wish to rest their case as police officers don't just buy padlocks and go around locking houses🤣 but were only present at the house to protect the persons who were ordered by Oyo State Government to lock the house. The Panel demands that the petitioner's vehicle parked at the Station, be returned to the petitioner and insists that OC Legal of Police assists with this demand. This petition is adjourned Sine-die by the Panel.

The fifth petitioner is Alfa Hamzat Ibrahim VS Nigerian Correctional Service Agodi Ibadan. The petitioner is present, and this petition is for hearing. The petitioner's counsel informs the Panel that he had just received some documents that they wish to tender as evidence and pleads for an adjournment to be able to properly file the documents. The petition is adjourned to the 5/6th of July 2021 for the petitioner to open their case.

The sixth petitioner is Mr. Alamu Toheeb VS Nigerian Police Eleyele Police Station. The petitioner is present. This petition is for the respondent to open their defence. The OC legal of Police, Mr. Ojieh, for the respondent informs the Panel that he was unable to produce his witness, the Inspector, today as he is currently indisposed. This petition is adjourned to the 7th of July 2021 by the Panel, for the police inspector that was invited by the Panel to appear before this Panel.

The Oyo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry sits for the first day for this week, Tuesday 29th June 2021 at 9:41am.

The first petition is Mr. Ayanwole Jimoh VS Nigerian Police Eleyele Police Station. This petition is for hearing or for striking out. The petitioner and his counsel are both absent. The petitioner has only appeared once since he filed his petition in February. This petition is hence struck out by the for lack of diligent persecution.

The second petition is that of Mr. Olayiwola Oyedokun VS the Nigerian Police, Bodija Police Station. This petition is for the respondent to open their defence. The petitioner is absent due to health reasons. The respondent informs the Panel that his witnesses are not present, and therefore cannot proceed with the case. This petition is adjourned to the 6th of July 2021.

The third petitioner is the family of Late Abass Lawal Adekoya VS Commissioner of Police Oyo State. The petitioner is represented by Lawal Halimat. This petition was slated for the IPO at Adelubi Station to appear before the Panel, as he was the officer who transferred the decease's case to SARS. But the Panel decides to adjourn this petition Sine-die.

This petition is for the respondent to open their defence. The respondent informs the Panel that they wish to rest their case on this petition stating that the evidence presented by the petitioner, showed nothing even by an inch, that the Police was involved in the alleged act. The Panel then adjourns this petition, Sine-die.

The fifth petition is that of the Families of Jimoh Isiaq & 3 others VS Nigerian Police Area Command Owode, Ogbomosho. The families are represented by Adeoye Timothy, Ganiyu Amuda, Matthew Esther & Jimoh Atada. This petition is for the respondent to open their defence. The respondent informs the Panel that they wish to rest their case, for the reason that throughout the petitioner's statements, no specific names of the officers were mentioned. This petition is now adjourned Sine-die by the Panel.

The last petition for today is that of Mr. Adejumo Lekan Isaac VS Nigerian Police Ogbomosho Area Command. The petitioner is absent but represented by his counsel. This petition is for the respondent to open their defence. The respondent informs the Panel that they wish to rest their case for the reasons that throughout the petitioner's statements & evidences, no specific names of the officers were mentioned, apart from naming the Police station which is not human🙄 This petition is hence adjourned Sine-die by the Panel.

And a new week begins. The Oyo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry sits at 9:31am, on the 22nd of June 2021.

The first petitioner is Mr. Sesan Opadotun Family VS Commissioner of Police Oyo State. The petitioner is represented by his mother, Olunike Opadotun, as he is still hospitalised. On the last adjourned date, the Panel requested the presence of one Sgt. Lukman Adenuga, but his whereabouts are still unknown, says the respondent. The Panel decides to publicize his identity through media platforms. This petition is adjourned to the 30th of June 2021 by the Panel, for definite hearing.

The second petitioner is the Family of Late Waheed Olarenwaju VS the D.P.O Mokola Police Station. This petition is for the respondent to open their defence. The respondent states that he was not able to get to the D.P.O. as the Panel had requested his presence. The Panel decides to take a last date of adjournment, for the D.P.O. to appear before the Panel. This petition is hence adjourned to the 30th of June 2021 by the Panel.
