Standard Operation Manuals for Non-Profits Workshop

Friday, 13th September 2019 Onelife Initiative for Human Development joined other colleagues in the developmental space at the Standard Operation Manual for Non-profits workshop organised by the Nigeria Network of Non-Governmental Organisations, NNNGO. The workshop which had over 35 NGOs representatives in attendance in Lagos availed the opportunity for cross-learning especially as it concerns various regulations in the non-profit industry. Board Management, Financial management, strategic planning, SCUML regulations, VAT compliance and other operational processes were highlighted.

The workshop helped validate some of the regular compliances we keep dates with at Onelife Initiative on monthly and regular basis. This includes filing of monthly VAT returns to the FIRS, filing of monthly SCUML report to the EFCC unit, filling of Withholding Tax of vendors, filing of monthly PAYE for Staff and PENSIONS for staff upon confirmation of appointment and filing of annual returns to the FIRS and to the Corporate Affairs Commission. One of the learnings for Onelife Initiative is the strengthening of our volunteering base. With the huge request for volunteering, we will be thinning selections based on basic skills of the prospective volunteer and alignment of personal vision with what we do. The workshop has also shaped some of the content for our planned 2020 Staff Retreat. Onelife Initiative was represented at the meeting by the Admin. Officer.
