Onelife Initiative Listed as BSS for HortiNigeria
As part of our work on the Enterprise Development and Employability desk, Onelife Initiative has been recently engaged as the Business Support Service Provider (BSS). In this role, Onelife Initiative will provide services to support the HortiNigeria intervention component in Oyo State.
HortiNigeria intervention primarily seeks to enable a sustainable horticultural sector that has massive consideration for youths and gender. The ideal ultimately is to contribute to food and nutrition security in Nigeria. Some of the vegetables being focused on include Onions, Okra, Pepper and Tomato. The program focuses on “piloting production system innovations and regional diversification amongst 2,000 entrepreneurial farmers. Other efforts include increasing farmers’ productivity and income, improving farmers’ access to financial services, and enhancing sector coordination and Business-to-Business (B2B) linkage.”
HortiNigeria works with Entrepreneurial Farmers, horticulture-related Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), and other stakeholders in the value chain; to build market-led public-private partnerships (PPPs); including 50% youth-led and 40% women-led PPPs) that guarantee access to structured and unstructured markets.
Onelife Initiative’s role will involve working closely with the Business Champion, the Entrepreneurial Farmers, Government Institutions and other stakeholders on the horticultural value chain in the various hubs that will be created. Some of the activities in this regard include the action planning, the design and diagnostics; and the various reflections. HortiNigeria Public-Private Partnerships will be co-funded by the private sector actors and by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands.
